People choose a vegetarian or vegan diet for many reasons. And for many reasons choosing to forgo meat and dairy to increase consumption of plant-based foods is a wise choice. Ongoing studies reveal the health benefits of reducing and/or eliminating certain foods in order to create a more balanced intake of nutrients is most certainly a good choice over the Standard American Diet (SAD).
The bottom line? Healthful diets fall on a continuum, and most nutritionists would agree that veganism is far superior to the typical American regimen. But the healthful choices that work best for you are the ones that actually work for you.
