Transition of Power

Listening to the television this morning, I overheard plenty of talk about the transition of power that is scheduled to occur this week in Washington. It will certainly be a historical week for our country, and the world. But what if we took the phrase “transition of power” to a more personal level and decided to accept responsibility for where we are in the present moment? How might our lives be changed if we decided to stop blaming others for the condition and quality of our existence?

Learning to accept what is can be a challenge. Even during yoga class, we experience moments of disappointment when our bodies are unable to perform as we envision- and it takes a great deal of letting go into the breath to accept ourselves exactly as we are.

As you take in all of the festivities surrounding the presidential inauguration this week, take a few moments to make an internal transition of power. Accept your physical, emotional and spiritual self as they exist in this moment…make a resolution to sit with whatever experiences come your way in the next twelve months with minimal resistance. Limit your expectations; then wait patiently to see what the Universe has in store for you!
